Corrigan Towing Release Procedures

Vehicles impounded by a police agency and vehicles removed from an accident scene are usually taken to one of our storage facilities.

Accident vehicles that do NOT have an Investigative Hold order from a police agency may be redeemed by:

  • Registered owners may drive them away if they are legal to drive, have valid: driver’s license, insurance, and valid registration.
  • Owners may contact our office to arrange for a tow to a collision repair facility of their choice.
  • If another towing company is dispatched to retrieve the vehicle, they must present a “hold harmless” document to Corrigan Towing, pay the accrued towing and storage charges, and tow the vehicle away.

Impounded Vehicles and Accident Vehicles with Holds may be retrieved by:

  • Registered owners may present a current valid: registration, driver’s license, and proof of insurance, and drive the vehicle away.
  • Registered owners may stop by, present proof of ownership, pay the towing and storage charges, and have the vehicle towed away, whether by Corrigan or any other licensed towing company.
  • A police release is required before you can access, remove, or clean out personal items from an impounded vehicle.

Call our 24-hour Customer Service Center at 810-225-2000 to confirm release requirements.

If the registered owner cannot be present to release a vehicle, in many cases, they may authorize another adult to act on their behalf.
